ICEggs is specially designed to be used by ice specialists in capturing information relating to ice
surfaces directly on an electronic chart.
The electronic chart follows the aircraft’s movements on a portable computer’s monitor, generally
displaying the map in “head-up” mode, and the map’s orientation follows the aircraft’s direction.
The quality of the observation is thereby perfected and offers precise spatial references to the
observer.
The specialist can use either free-hand drawing, or the plane’s route to define ice zones on the map.
When it’s necessary to cover great ice-covered regions, the pilot need only follow the ice boundary
lines and ICEggs takes over tracing a line on the map using the GPS information.

The final result generated by the ICEggs application is an ice map respecting the international
WMO representation standards.
The principal advantage of ICEggs is it’s capacity to accelerate the ice maps creation process.
The technology allows the specialist to pass directly from rough copy to published copy.
The application automatically fills in regions drawn by the user with patterns and colours depending
on the characteristics captured in each region.
Several formats are available for map publishing depending on the client’s needs. ICEggs can create
out -files in exchange formats allowing information transfer to another
GIS system, or yet produce
high-resolution ice maps in different image formats.
